As some of you may know, six years ago I ran the Los Angeles Marathon for The Pablove Foundation, who fight childhood cancer. After that I ran the Boston Marathon for Childrens Hospital of Boston and then the New York Marathon for Breast Cancer Awareness. I’m not sure my knees can handle another full marathon, so this year, I have a great opportunity to run half of the Los Angeles Marathon and help raise money for a wonderful charity, Mending Kids http://www.mendingkids.org/.
Since 2006, Mending Kids has helped over 3,000 kids with free life-changing and life-saving surgeries. Known for their separation of the previously conjoined twins "The Two Marias" from Guatemala, Mending Kids has been featured in Times Square, on the Anderson Cooper Show, CNN, LA Times, People Magazine, Good Day LA and countless other media outlets. Founded 10 years ago, Mending Kids now reaches into 63 developing countries – through surgical missions, Hometown Missions here in Los Angeles, international surgeries and a U.S. surgical program.
My friend, Marchelle Sellers, is the founder of Mending Kids and past Executive Director of the Pasadena Ronald McDonald House. She is the mother of two sons, Graham, and Reese. Reese is now in heaven and is the inspiration behind everything she does. The fully-accessible park in Pasadena, CA developed by the accessibility commission, located behind the Rose Bowl Aquatic Center, is aptly named "Reese's Retreat" in his memory.
Please help me, help this incredible organization if you can!
